From your very first piano lesson all the way to Grade 8 and beyond, AS Music School in Woodseats teaches piano and keyboard to children, teenagers and adults across Sheffield. Our piano tutors are experienced, qualified and DBS-checked, and we have three grand pianos on site — so high-grade students take their lessons on a real grand at no extra charge.
Piano lessons for every age
Early Learning (ages 3 to 6)
Our 30-minute Early Learning group classes are a fun, gentle introduction to music for the very youngest beginners — including a free starter pack of materials.
Mini-lessons (ages 6 to 8)
15-minute one-to-one piano lessons designed for younger players. Perfect for building solid foundations without overwhelming small hands or shorter attention spans.
One-to-one lessons (ages 8 to adult)
Weekly 30-minute one-to-one piano lessons with a tutor matched to your style and goals — whether that’s classical, jazz, pop, film music, exam-track or just learning songs you love. Adult learners are very welcome — many of our piano students are adults learning for the first time or returning after years away.
Three grand pianos — a real difference
Most music schools and home tutors teach piano on uprights or digital keyboards. We have three real grand pianos in our Cobnar Road studios, and high-grade students get to take their lessons on a grand at no extra charge. The difference in sound, touch and dynamic range is something you can hear and feel from the first note.
Piano exams in Sheffield
We enter piano students for nationally recognised exams (ABRSM, Trinity, LCM and others) when they’re ready, and we’re a recognised exam centre for LCM among others. We host visiting examiners on site each year so students sit their grades on our own pianos in a familiar setting. Higher grades carry UCAS points usable for any university application — not just music.
Of course, exams are entirely optional. Many of our piano students never take one and simply enjoy the music.
