Piano lessons for every age and stage

We teach piano to complete beginners through to advanced exam-track students. Lessons can be classical, pop, jazz, film music, or whatever the student enjoys playing.

Mini-lessons for younger beginners (ages 6 to 8)

Fifteen-minute one-to-one lessons designed to keep younger children engaged and to build the right foundations from day one. A gentle, friendly start to piano.

One-to-one piano lessons (ages 8 and up, including adults)

Thirty-minute one-to-one lessons each week with one of our experienced piano tutors. Suitable for everyone from beginners to grade 8 and beyond. Adult learners are very welcome — we have many adult students at AS Music School, from those returning to piano after years away to complete beginners trying it for the first time.

Early learning group classes (ages 3 to 6)

If your child is too young for one-to-one lessons, our 30-minute early learning group classes are the perfect introduction to music. A free starter pack is included.

Music exams in Sheffield

We are a recognised exam centre for RGT, LCM and RSL, and we enter students for nationally recognised exams across the major boards including ABRSM and Trinity when they’re ready. We host examiners on site each year so students sit their exams in a familiar setting on our own pianos. Higher grades carry UCAS points, useful for any university application — not just music. Exams are entirely optional though; many of our piano students never take them and simply enjoy the music.

Where we serve

Based on Cobnar Road, S8 8QB, our piano students travel in from across south Sheffield: Woodseats, Meersbrook, Heeley, Norton, Beauchief, Greenhill, Bradway, Dore, Totley, Nether Edge, Sharrow, Abbeydale and the wider S7, S8, S11 and S17 catchments. There’s parking on site and the bus routes along Chesterfield Road and Abbeydale Road both stop within a few minutes’ walk.
