“It has been shown that playing an instrument can help children with ADHD or learning disabilities by increasing their attention span and appetite for learning.” – Seashell Trust
“Music has long been recognized for the contribution it can make to people’s health and well-being. Music Therapy is a recognized clinical discipline with well-evidenced benefits for people with disabilities, emotional difficulties, mental health difficulties and a wide variety of additional needs.” – Music as Therapy International
We’re proud to welcome students of all abilities and backgrounds here at AS Music School and we’re especially proud to teach music to many students with learning difficulties.
Learning music can significantly benefit the wellbeing of people with learning difficulties, namely:
- Improved mood
- Promoting relaxation
- Reduction of physical and mental stress
- Stimulation of attention
- Improved concentration
- Improved coordination
Playing music can also be non-verbal, making it far more accessible to students that are non-verbal themselves.
Learning and playing music with others can also make it significantly easier for individuals to bond with those around them, whether that is the student-teacher relationship or the relationship with others in a group setting, such as parents or peers.
