As a result, you can start lessons straight away. You don’t need to buy an expensive instrument first.

Buying a first instrument is a big step. It can also be costly. For example, children grow quickly, and their interests can change. Renting gives you the freedom to try things out first.

What instruments can you rent?
Normans offers a wide range of instruments for our students. These include:
- Guitars, including classical, acoustic, electric and bass
- Keyboards and drums
- Brass and woodwind
- Violins, violas and cellos
In addition, guitars come in full, ¾ and ½ sizes. Prices start from just £8.50 a month for a student classical or acoustic guitar. Electric guitars start from £15 a month. Bass guitars start from £17 a month.
How instrument rental in Sheffield works
The process is quick and simple.
- Choose your instrument. First, visit our rental page on the Normans website. Then pick the instrument and size you need.
- Apply online. Next, you’ll complete a short application with Wuva, an FCA-authorised hire partner. This includes an ID check and a soft credit check. Don’t worry, the credit check won’t affect your credit score.
- Get it delivered. Once you’re approved, Normans sends your instrument the next working day.
- Start playing. Finally, bring your new instrument to your lesson and enjoy it!
Good to know before you rent
There is a 3-month minimum term. After that, your rental continues month by month until you cancel.
There is also a one-off shipping fee from £20. This covers delivery and the return trip, so keep the original packaging safe.
Many instruments have been rented before. However, each one is cleaned, serviced and checked before it is sent out. As a result, it plays like new, even if it has a few small marks. Reusing instruments is also better for the planet.
Please note that the person signing up must be 18 or over. So, parents and carers will need to apply for younger students.
